Beautiful Boutique

I popped into Cuckfield the other day to see my friend and went into the gorgeous baby boutique, Willo.

Although it's very tiny they have some gorgeous bits and I could resist getting Noah some great bits for the summer.

I think my fav is the baby grow from Mini a ture, the blue pattern is so so cute and even though it's a size to big Noah is already wearing it (at £19 he will be getting as much wear out of it as possible!!!)

Fresh Produce

I am so super excited that the Garden Centre up the road from us has just opened a fantastic new farm shop.  There is a huge section of fresh fruit and veg, a deli counter, and a gorgeous array of freshly baked bread.

On Saturday G and I popped up there to pick up some lunch.  We picked yummy flat field mushrooms, a tasty multi grain loaf and a goose egg each!  It was such a yummy lunch.  Goose eggs equal about 3 hens eggs so it was very filling but they were so yellow and rich!

I think this will definitely be a weekly weekend visit place to nab some tasty fresh produce.

What's the time Mr Wolfe?

When Bean and I took a lovely trip into Brighton last weekend on Sunday we treated outselves to a coffee and biscuit in Mr Wolfe.

Before we left on Sunday morning we had a skim through The Simple Things and read through the article all about Brighton.  Mr Wolfe was featured in the article so we decided to give it a go.

It's just up the back, off Western Road, so nice and handy to get to.  It's very s but so nicely turned out.  The walls are all black chalk board and the menus are all written up on the wall, which is a nice touch.

The coffee was tasty and the gold teapots are fabulous! Wish I'd had tea rather than coffee. The tasty little cloud shortbread biscuit was not only extremely cute, but also very yummy.

Will definitely be visiting Mr Wolfe again!

When Bean Came to Stay

What a lovely weekend I had.  I didn't really get to see much of G but I feel like I achieved loads.  It was such glorious weather I spent the day outside on Saturday in the garden tidying, fixing the shed roof, planting some bulbs and taking a load of junk to the dump.

It feels so good to get rid of loads of rubbish and make everything a bit tidier.  I then came inside, made a cake, tidied up and hoovered the whole house.  A real spring clean!

On Saturday evening Bean came to stay....so lovely to have her over.  We didn't do anything on Saturday night apart from chat and eat a tasty thai dinner that I made, but it was just nice to have her here.

On Sunday morning we tucked into a yummy breakfast that I had prepared of yogurt, oats, rhubarb and blueberries! Very healthy and tasty.

After checking out the fab article in this months Simple Things and doing some quick Google searches we went armed with a number of different new places we could try. 

The fantastic places we found were Mr Wolfe for a tasty coffee,  Dowse for some greetings cards, Sushi Garden for some lunch and Present (only opened this week) for a look at some gifts.

Early Starts

I am super enjoying my new job and I am up for all things new and learning as much as I can and days out of the office interviewing are a brill way to learn. 

On Wednesday I got to go to our London office, however this meant a 6am alarm and a train at 8.

It was still dark as I ventured out of he house at just gone 7 with a crisp, wintery feeling to the air. But there were some things along my early morning way that just made me smile...

Bright 'n colourful

One of the things that I love about Brighton is the plethora of streets that are lined with brightly coloured houses.  It isn't just one or 2 roads in one area of town either, you can be in any part of town and come across a street with brightly coloured houses.  It's really lovely and I think it is a quintessential part of Brighton's quirky, artistic nature.

Admittedly I have only lived in a few towns, but as far as I can see Brighton definitely champions fabulous rainbow streets.

Turning Wintery

While I have been off work looking for a new job I have been able to make the most of the lovely autumnal days and head out for some brisk walks.  I tend to just head along the seafront but I thought it might make a nice change to head up the hill and along the racecourse.  

There are some really fantastic views from up here and it's nice as it feels almost a bit countryside!

I saw some gorgeous red and orange colours as the different plants were turning and now a lot of leaves have fallen it definitely feels wintery.

Bring on the chilly weather, burning fires, crisp frosty mornings and the wintery Christmas season.

When the going gets tough...get your nails done!

I've got to say I've had a pretty tough 3 weeks with not having a job. However today I was offered a new job.

I decided that with a new job in the pipeline and a very stressful day making decisions I would treat myself to a manicure.

I have been struggling to find a salon that I like and one that isn't full of hundred of stick thin, glamourous beauticians (making me feel huge and very unattractive) - not what you want on a day like today.

I found Sarah Hurst website through yell.com and I was drawn to the good value prices and out of town location.  I won't turn back now! I certainly would recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly, good value, independent salon - where you DON'T HAVE TO PAY TO PARK!!!

Sophie, my therapist, was such a star and sat and listened to all my problems, and not only that she did a fantastic job on my nails.  My gel manicure was only £28.00 and she did it perfectly (with a scuffed nail at the end she took the time to completely redo it - rather than just bodge job over it).

Sarah has a quirky log cabin in her garden with her treatment rooms, offers a plethora of treatments and really lovely lovely members of staff, so if you want something that really has that personal touch then this is DEFINITELY THE PLACE TO COME!!!

Weekend Wanderings

We had had such a lovely weekend made up of birthday shopping for G on Saturday with G's parents at Dirty Harry's, Next, River Island, followed by a tasty coffee and a quick rest of the feet in Nest. 

We then headed for dinner at Jamie's Italian Brighton on Saturday night with gorgeous cocktails, tasty red wine and a fantastic special of the day beef and pork rigatoni.  We headed home to watch Stricty Come Dancing and Xfactor with G's parents while tucking into some tasty Aldi Gin that I had bought G for his birthday.

On Sunday morning I treated us to a tasty pancake breakfast and then I headed out for a gorgeous walk along the seafront on Sunday morning to see the annual vintage car run.  (Fab to see the cars but soooooo windy!)

Bright 'n' Early

{24th July}

I am so pleased to have 3 days of holiday booked for the remainder of the week.  I am taking a trip back to Canterbury to visit my family.  G will be staying at home as he will be taking holiday later in the year.

I am really looking forward to having some time to spend with my family and there isn't much better than being back at your parents house.  No worries about food, bills, washing!

I have a lot planned for the next 5 days and can't wait to catch up with everyone and spend time in places I haven't been to for years.

As I will be leaving Brighton behind for the next few days - here are some bits of it that I love...
